Chuck Hagel apparently won't be the only Nebraska politician at the Republican National Convention seeking to make contacts for a possible higher office bid.
The U.S. senator and potential 2008 presidential candidate is hosting a meet-and-greet reception in New York on Aug. 31, where he will introduce Gov. Mike Johanns to friends, political figures and lobbyists. They could be helpful should the governor decide to make a bid for the Senate in 2006.
