In Gaza Strip, tension mounts as settlers pack up view story
Tuesday, August 9, 2005
David Goldman - - Boston Herald
| It's Sunday in the Gush Katif settlement block and tensions are rising.
News spreads that the Israeli Army is dismantling caravans that have been occupied by sympathizers in nearby Kefar Darom. Voice messages urge Gush Katif residents to go to Kefar Darom to help the settlers.
But roadblocks are set up at three points along the 7-mile road from Neve Dekalim to Kefar Darom. Cars are at a standstill. Teenagers and younger kids walk rapidly toward Kefar Darom.
