Cool new feature

Ms. Roberts… you don’t know me… but you will. I think it’s great that I can have a way to start controversy and post comments with my extremely liberal opinions. I already love this site because lets face it, it’s awesome. Anyway thanks a lot for adding this fun new feature, I’m sure you’ll be seeing my opinions once in a while…

-Is this movie in 3-D? -No but your face is.

Two Questions

I love your site – I have been using it at work for about a year. And I am really pleased you have started this area for me to post on all the different news topics. I have two questions (only one of which is serious):

1. Do you have a filter to keep the far-right republican nut jobs from posting on your site?

2. Why do you have different blogger levels?

Re: Two Questions

One of the reasons we started a blog is to enable intelligent discussion on a broad range of public policy topics. Some people know a lot about the Court while others may be more knowledgeable about Congress. We believe adults learn by discussion and interaction, even with “far-right republican nut jobs.” With clear, creative and convincing posts, a blogger may gain a better understanding of different points of view – even if the blogger’s opinion is not swayed.

Unfortunately, there are several issues which can limit the usefulness of our blogger comment area.

Comment spam is both annoying and aggravating. Comments like “You’re right!” with a link to “make her happy” or “lower your mortgage rate” websites have no useful purpose (and not just because you don’t know what makes us happy). These comments will be deleted and the user will be blocked from making future posts.

Which gets us to the blogger ranking reason. The more posts you make, the more posting privileges you will receive. A new user cannot post hyperlinks. As you establish yourself as a credible blogger, you will have the ability to post links and use other advanced features. Blogger rankings give us the ability to better moderate the site.

I hope this answers your questions – even the one that was not serious!

Basic Rules:
1.      No comment spam. Advertising a site by making a brief comment and putting up unrelated link is not tolerated. If it’s not relevant to the blog, don’t link it.
2.      If you have a different point of view than is expressed in a posting, keep your opinion fact-based and free from personal insults.
3.      Keep the language clean, free of profanity, racism, bigotry, etc.
