Iowa draws candidates as Bush, Kerry swap jabs view story
Friday, October 15, 2004
RICK RUGGLES - - Omaha World-Herald
| Sen. John Kerry, preceded by a booming drum corps, expressed optimism here Thursday night that he would be the next president of the United States.
Kerry contended that President Bush "doesn't have a record to run on. He has a record to run away from. And that's what he's doing."
On a chilly night at the Iowa State Fairgrounds, Kerry made a rare joint appearance with running mate John Edwards and their wives.
"You are beautiful," Kerry told the audience. "I love Iowa. . . . Are you freezing, incidentally?"
